Lingua Franca

(Lingua franca: a language used as the common
language between two people, frequently a second
language for both)

In order to maintain coherency and consistency within the discussions, the
RPF will be held in a single language—English. For good or ill, English has
become arguably the broadest lengua franca for political discussion in the
world today. Unfortunately, this puts non-native speakers at a disadvantage
in philosophical arguments, becasue they so often depend upon the
nuances that characterize subtle thought. But the RPF will do the upmost to
help non-native speakers feel welcome and participate effectively. To that
end, the RPF offers the following tools and tips for non-native speakers:

In addition, we hope that native English speakers will be just as generous
in giving fair consideration to the arguments of non-native speakers as they
are to native speakers, allowing reasonable leeway for misunderstandings
arising from language differences. Native speakers can pick up some
writing pointers as well on our
